Blockbuster Review

As seems to be the trend lately, I have not been in a blogging mood either. I blame this heat. Anyway, I feel the need to get back on the wagon and the best way to do this is to rant about movies, after i take that first step maybe I can get myself to write a well thought out, introspective post or something like that.

The Dark Knight
I really have mixed feelings about this movie. It wasn't all i thought a Batman film could be. Certainly elements of it were beyond anything I could expect. Ledger's performance as The Joker is both haunting and terrifying, not the slap-happy, only mildly creepy Joker played by Jack Nicholson.  And Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face was a pleasant surprise. But I digress, I felt that there were too few actual fight scenes. Most of the movie was plotting and people getting moved around in police cars that may or may not have been driven by actual policemen. I give it an 7.5 to an 8. It was very good, but only Heath exceeded my expectations.

(When I saw this movie they showed the teaser trailer for the next Harry Potter, and in my opinion you can only go down from there, so that may have affected my movie watching experience)

Ironman
This movie may have been the most pleasant surprise this summer. I do like Robert Downey Jr. but I didn't see him as a viable superhero character. And Ironman didn't seem like the coolest superhero anyway. The only reason I decided to see it (and I'm sure Heidi will agree) was for my old favorite Gweneth. However, this movie was, in my eyes, phenomenal. I loved Downey's charismatic, cynical, and hilarious character. I felt like he was a very relatable superhero because he is just like everyone else. he has a desire to do good but sometimes he's a jerk. by the end i wanted a light circle coming out of my chest. And gweneth was amazing, as always. I give this movie a 9.5. One of the most pleasant surprises this summer.

Baby Mama
Absolutely hilarious. Whenever Tina Fey and Amy Poehler get together you know there is going to be some funny business. I saw it twice and laughed harder the second time. There are clever one-liners and hilarious characters. Sigourney Weaver's turn as the head of a surrogate organization is priceless. I absolutely rate this a 9 and recommend it to anyone in the mood to laugh.

Some of the movies I haven't seen but plan to:
Mamma Mia!
Brideshead Revisited
The Mummy 3 (It's about China, and it came out today and Kristin has already brought it up three times)

1) The Dark Knight was too dark and too busy. There was simply too much clutter and plots and sub-plots going on there. But Heathy, as I have said, was incredibly macabre.

2) Iron Man- my sentiments exactly. With a little more RDJr love.

3) I really want to see Brideshead Revisited as well. And you're going to LOVE Mamma Mia!

Okay, okay...you can go to the movies whenever you want. I get it...now quit making us feel worse about fruitless babysitter searches. Geez.

Oh, I just thought of a way to make up for such "I don't have a baby!" flaunting...you can watch little Hammer while Alex and I hit a flick later this month. Thanks in advance! :)
