Oh Amelia...

The other day my friend Merrianne were at lunch and she asked me, "What ever happened to Amelia Earhart?" I told her I didn't know, but I have some nice positive ideas of what might have happened to her, she told me that I should blog about it, so I am. I'd like to believe that brave Amelia landed safely in shallow waters near a beautiful tropical island, and then swam to the beach. I'd like to think that she was welcomed in to the island community and embraced as one of their own. Maybe she married and had little aviatrix children running around with palm fronds as wings. I hope she lived with a view of the ocean in a hut made out of her former plane, and she died on a beautiful tropical afternoon at a very advanced age. Or she was just Charles Lindbergh in drag, either way works for me.

Ha, ha! :)

My theory: She survived the plane crash but lost her memory and turned a little funny. Only remembering her first name, she got a job as a maid and had new adventures as Amelia Bedelia.

or....

crashed her plane off the french riviera, lost her memory, shortened her name to Amelie and began waiting tables.

Delys says that Charles Lindberg was a serial adulterer, so I very much doubt the intrepid Amelia was Lindberg in drag. I think Amelia would have been very sympathetic to poor Anne Morrow Lindberg, but I doubt she would have appreciated her touchy-feely writing.

And didn't the castaways on Gilligan's Island find her?
